ABOUT THE STABILIZER

What is a stabilizer? +

The Stabilizer is an exceptional stability and fall prevention tool. It is crafted by affixing our patented walker platform attachments, known as the Stabilizer Conversion Kit, to a standard walker. Featuring rubber pads at the base, this tool provides the sensation of 'parallel bars on the go.' Designed to promote independence and enhance quality of life, the Stabilizer enables users to safely engage in various activities of daily living while reducing the risk of falling.

Is it safe to use in wet or icy conditions?+

The Stabilizer is well-suited for various uneven surfaces, including sand, gravel, grass, mud, snow, and even calm ocean waters. It can also be used inside the shower; however, we advise caution as soapy water may make your feet slippery. When using the Stabilizer on ice, ensure you wear shoes with a strong grip for added safety.

Can the product be used indoors after it was used outdoors?+

Yes, the Stabilizer is designed for use both indoors and outdoors. However, if you've used it at the beach, we advise reserving it exclusively for outdoor use and acquiring a separate Stabilizer for indoor use. Sand may enter the walker's tube during beach use, and it might be challenging to completely remove the sand.

Is the Stabilizer covered by Medicare?+

Yes, the Stabilizer is eligible for coverage by Medicare with a valid doctor’s order. Stabilized Steps is a certified Medicare Home Medical Equipment Provider. To determine your eligibility or for more information, please contact our team at 1-844-691-7837.

What kind of guarantee do you have?+

Stabilized Steps takes pride in manufacturing walker platform attachments to create the Stabilizer, adhering to the highest standards. We have utmost confidence in the quality of these attachments and, as such, offer a Lifetime Warranty against any defects. If a defect is identified upon initial receipt of the product, we are committed to promptly replacing or repairing it. For any warranty-related queries, please contact our team at 1-844-691-7837.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM STABILIFE

What is Stabilife? +

The STABILIFE System is an all-encompassing exercise program designed for adults dealing with balance issues. It consists of both hardware, known as The Stabilizer, and a software component featuring online classes. This holistic approach aims to restore independence and enhance overall quality of life. Notably, our patented attachment for medical walkers endows The Stabilizer with the stability similar to “parallel bars on the go”, surpassing the typical walker's stability. The accompanying software facilitates secure and convenient exercise classes focused on improving stability, strength, balance, and proprioception (body position and movement awareness), with tangible and measurable outcomes.

What is the difference between the Basic program and the Premium program? +

Our mission is to make exercise and balance improvement accessible to older adults by eliminating barriers, including cost. To address this, we offer a free basic plan, while our premium plan provides additional support. This includes tech support to streamline setup, regular follow-ups to ensure consistent exercise, and a personalized progress assessments review during monthly calls. Members enjoy anytime access to tech assistance. For details on plan distinctions, visit the following page.

How does the Stabilife program training work?+

The Foundational-Movement-for-Balance-and-Mobility Class is the main program in the STABILIFE System, dedicated to strengthening your body while ensuring safety through the use of our Stabilizer, fostering a sense of security during movements. Our objective is to assist you in establishing fundamental movement patterns with a particular emphasis on proprioception, enhancing your awareness of your body's spatial orientation. This, in turn, contributes to increased strength and balance in your daily activities. Recognizing that individuals begin at different fitness levels, we prioritize your comfort with the exercises. We encourage you to proceed at your own pace. If standing exercises feel challenging, we recommend continuing with seated exercises within your comfort zone, ensuring consistent strength and balance development. The Stabilizer is a supportive tool to help you progress when you feel ready, and modifications are available throughout the modules to cater to your needs. Understanding life's unpredictability, we've designed the program without a rigid calendar structure. This flexibility allows you to pick up where you left off, ensuring you don't miss any foundational movements on days when you're unable to work out. The program encourages progression through each designated exercise module, even if it takes you 60 days to complete them all. We trust you'll find satisfaction in our program, building confidence in your balance and movement through regular exercise. It's important to note that these movement patterns are crafted to enhance strength and mobility in specific areas rather than seeking perfection, acknowledging that a body in motion is continually evolving.

How do I change my STABILIFE System account type?+

Flexibility is key – you can seamlessly switch between our basic and premium plans at any time. Our memberships operate on a month-to-month basis, without any long-term contracts. If you wish to modify your plan, simply reach out to us at 1-844-691-7837, and one of our team members will gladly assist you.

How to renew my membership?+

For premium plans, membership renewal is hassle-free. No action is needed, as your membership automatically renews on a month-to-month basis for monthly plans or on a yearly basis for annual plans. It's worth noting that the basic plan is entirely free and doesn't require a credit card for sign-up.

What equipment do I need for my training?+

In general, our classes don't necessitate additional exercise equipment, except for a Stabilizer. For individuals with balance issues, we highly recommend acquiring stabilizers to enhance the effectiveness of the exercises.

ALL ABOUT BALANCE, STRENGTH, AND HEALTHY AGING

How do I know if I’m at risk for a fall?+

Identifying the risk of falling in Older Adults involves assessing several factors, including age, medical conditions, mobility issues, medication side effects, and environmental hazards. Regular health check-ups, awareness of balance or gait difficulties, and reviewing medications with a healthcare provider can help assess fall risk. The CDC has some questionnaires and assessments that can be done to see if you have some risk of falling. We have compiled some of these questions and assessments into a Fall Risk Screening that can be taken from the comfort of your own home. Use this link to access the screening.: Fall Risk Screening. You will get an email with your results.

How often should I work out? +

Older adults' workout frequency depends on their health status and physical capabilities. The general recommendation is at least 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity per week, along with muscle-strengthening activities on two or more days a week, as per guidelines by health organizations like the CDC. Older adults need to consult with healthcare providers to tailor a workout regimen that is safe and effective for their specific needs.

What should I do if I fall? +

Older adults should remain calm and assess whether they are injured if they fall. They should do so slowly if they can get up safely without pain. If they are hurt or unable to get up, they should call for help immediately or use an emergency alert system if they have one. After a fall, seeking medical attention to assess for any injuries and understand the fall's cause is essential.

Why is exercising important for older adults?+

Exercising is crucial for older adults as it helps maintain independence, reduces the risk of falls and chronic diseases, improves mental health and cognitive function, and enhances overall quality of life. Regular exercise helps strengthen muscles, improve balance and coordination, and maintain bone density, all critical factors in preventing falls and promoting overall health in older adults.
